What Campers Look for When Choosing a Campground

Here at Bonfire, we speak to a lot of RV Park owners and managers to figure out what features they need to make their business more successful. While that is our main priority, we also like to talk to campers to see what they look for when choosing a park to book at. In this blog, we spoke to 5 campers to hear what they look for when booking a campground.

Getting back to nature shouldn’t be stressful. Getting all the information before I book usually makes or breaks where I decide to stay. For me, the big ones are where my site will be, are there staples I can buy (like firewood, snacks, and water), and what activities are available - local hikes and water rentals.

Showers are a plus at any campground. I camp out of my truck, so hot water is always a nice treat at the end of a trip. Additionally, places that offer bear boxes make me happy.

My friends and I like to go camping and have a “couple” drinks so I always like to know if the campground is open to later nights. So, the first thing I look at is their alcohol regulations. We also bring our pets, so knowing upfront what the pet rules are help us make our decision.”

Yes, this is a very millennial answer but I like to book online. so, I will cruise the internet and normally, will book on the one with the most amenities if they have the ability to book online.”

It really depends on who is coming with us but normally I will look at pictures of the campgrounds and park maps to find the most isolated spots. We normally request the specific spot we want based on what we can see on a park map.
